Reception

Next Generation gave the game one star out of five, criticizing gameplay and the special moves, who called them simple to execute, but in essence boring through the game. In contrast, Nick Rox of GameFan was highly positive to the game, praising the Art Gallery, the graphics and music, and concluding that Yū Yū Hakusho is an "excellent, well-rounded fighting game".[5] Spanish magazine GamesTech commended its animated cutscenes and visuals.[6]
