Veselé (de|Freudenberg) is a municipality and village in Děčín District in the Ústí nad Labem Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 400 inhabitants.
The hamlet of Veselíčko 1. díl is an administrative part of Veselé.
The name literally means 'merry', 'cheerful' in Czech. It was derived from the original German name Freudenberg, meaning 'merry hill'.[2]
Veselé is located about 11km (07miles) east of Děčín and 27km (17miles) northeast of Ústí nad Labem. It lies in the hilly landscape of the Central Bohemian Uplands. The highest point is the Veselka hill at 460m (1,510feet) above sea level. The village is situated along the Bystrá River.
The first written mention of Veselé is from 1381.[2]
Veselé is located on the railway lines Děčín–Varnsdorf and Děčín–Rumburk.[3]
Veselé is poor in monuments. The only protected cultural monuments are a statue of St. Anthony of Padua dating from 1712 and a half-timbered farmstead, built in the first half of the 19th century.[4]
