Saligrah Khushiali or Salgirah Khushiali is a celebration of the birthday of present (Hazar) Imam, Aga Khan IV, on December 13 held by Nizari Ismaili Shiʿi Muslims.[1]
The first word of the term comes from fa|سال (sâl 'year') and fa|گره (gereh 'knot'); 'thus salgirah refers to an anniversary added on to a string kept for the purpose'.[2] Borrowed from Persian into Urdu and Hindi, the word means 'anniversary'.[3] The second word comes from fa|خوشحالی (xošhâli 'happiness').
