Richard Ayodele Akintunde is a Nigerian lawyer and sportsman. In 2016, Akintunde was elevated to a Senior Advocate of Nigeria and is a Chartered Arbitrator and Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.
Akintunde was born on 4 November 1964 in Montreal, Canada to Josiah Olanipekun Akintunde and Florence Oseyemi Akintunde originally from Ondo Town in Ondo State, Nigeria.[1]
He began his primary education at the Staff School, University of Ife from 1967 to 1974 before proceeding to Ilesa Grammar School, Osun State from 1975 to 1980, where he obtained his West African School Certificate. Akintude further his education at Obafemi Awolowo University where he graduated with a LLB (Hons.) degree in 1984 and was admitted to the Bar in 1985.[2]
As a Youth Corper, he worked at the Legal Aid Council in Ilorin, Kwara State from 1985 to 1986 before proceeding to work at Ayanlaja Adesanya & Co. and Tunde Odanye & Co., where was a partner.[3]
In June 1993, he became a founding and managing partner of Laniyan, Akintunde & Ibrahim, a commercial law, litigation, and alternative dispute resolution (ADR) firm and was elevated to a senior advocate of Nigeria in 2016.[3] [4]
, Akintunde serves as a Senior Partner at Ayodele Akintunde & Co., and is a Chartered Arbitrator and Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and the International Association of Restructuring, Insolvency and Bankruptcy Professionals (INSOL).[3] [5] In the Nigerian Bar Association, Akintunde is a member of the council and served as the chairman of the electoral committee.[6] [7] [8]
Akintunde is married to Abegbe Oluwatoyin Akintunde with a son.[1]
Akintunde participate in golfing and motorcycling events such as the Iron Bum Run and Tough Tour.[9] [10] He is the Bamofin of Ondo Kingdom and also the deputy chancellor of the Anglican Diocese of Ondo.[11]
