RIDE ridesharing and SMS based service was conceptualized by Hybrid Designs PLC founder Samrawit Fikru in December 2014.[1] In July 2017, it was relaunched as mobile app. In 2016, Zayride, an online booking service was launched by Habtamu Tadesse.[2] [3] Since 2016, the service had 42,000 authorized taxi drivers, while other ridesharing company named Feres is major competitor of RIDE. RIDE charges 12% commission from driver while Feres charges only 8% commission, pay to the company.
