Premabhai Hall is an abandoned theater in Ahmedabad, India.[1] It is owned by the Gujarat Vidya Sabha.[2]
During the British period, the hall was used for theatrical performances. In the 1960s, there was a proposal to redesign the Premabhai Hall, and B. V. Doshi was selected for the project. In 1972, the new building built in a brutalist style was opened.[3]
In the 1990s, the hall was abandoned due to fire regulation issues. After a failed demolition proposal, the building remains standing, although abandoned.
The hall is built in a brutalist style, with the entire structure built out of reinforced concrete. It has a seating capacity of 1000.[4] [5]
