Nelsia Explained
Nelsia is a genus of flowering plants belonging to the family Amaranthaceae.[1] It is with the Amaranthoideae subfamily.
It is native to Angola, Botswana and Namibia.
The genus name of Nelsia is in honour of Louis Nels (1855–1910), a German government official who served as acting Reichskommissar in German South West Africa in 1890–1891.[2] It was first described and published in Vierteljahrsschr. Naturf. Ges. Zürich Vol.56 on page 247 in 1911.[1]
