The Monastery of St. Varlaam (el|Μονή Βαρλαάμ) is an Eastern Orthodox monastery that is part of the Meteora monastery complex in Thessaly, central Greece.[2] It is situated at the top of a rocky precipice[3] that is 373 metres above the valley floor.[4] It was founded in 1517, on the site where an ascetic named Varlaam had established his hermitage in the mid-14th century.
The Dragon Cave (el|Δρακοσπηλιά|translit=[[:commons:Category:Drakospilia|Drakospiliá]]) is located to the south, below the monastery.[5] To the east, the ruins of Kelarakia (Κελαράκια) Rock (39.7251°N 21.6324°W) can be seen today.
