MindChamps is an early childhood educator headquartered in Singapore. It is the first early childhood educator to list on the Singapore Exchange (SGX).[1] [2]
Its pedagogy is based on the research of neuroscientist Allan Snyder from the University of Sydney, which included Snyder's study of the Champion Mindset.[3] [4]
Based in Singapore and Leichhardt, an Inner West suburb of Sydney, in New South Wales, Australia,[5] [6] it primarily offers infant care and bilingual academic programs, nursery, and kindergarten services.
MindChamps was founded in Australia in 1998 as an educational research centre in Sydney, by Australian David Chiem.[7] [8] In 2008, it opened its first preschool in Singapore.[9] It subsequently expanded its number of schools through a mix of company-owned, company operated centres, and as well as franchising.
In 2015, MindChamps opened a franchise in the Philippines.[10] [11]
In 2016, it launched its first Chinese preschool in Singapore.[12]
In 2017, MindChamps acquired a 50 percent stake in Actors Centre Australia.[13] The company was publicly listed on the Singapore Exchange (SGX) in November 2017,[14] [15] [16] making it the only childhood education provider to be listed on SGX. In 2018, it expanded into Malaysia through a master franchise agreement signed with Victoria Education.[17]
In 2019, it opened its first preschool in Myanmar.[18]
In 2021, MindChamps established a joint venture company with Indonesia's Mayapada Group to bring MindChamps’ schools to Indonesia.[19]
In 2022, MindChamps launched MindSpace – ‘the Ultimate School After School and Enrichment Academy. The first MindSpace centre opened in Bishan in January 2022. As of 2024, there are now 28 MindSpace centres across Singapore. [20]
In July 2023, MindChamps won a trademark infringement case in China over a “copycat” school in Xi’an, the capital city of Shaanxi province. [21]
Also in July 2023, MindChamps Allied Care Group committed to donating 20% of its yearly net profits to CaringSG for 5 years. [22]
In 2024, the MindChamps Foundation, the charitable arm of MindChamps, supported the ForwardSG with a total of $400,000 in Scholarships for underprivileged children, including $200,000 for Marine Parade residents in January [23] and a further $200,000 for underprivileged students in the Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC district.
In August 2024, MindChamps made history as the first to attain Patent Status for its breakthrough education methodology in 3 major territories - the US, UK and Australia. [24]
