Little Giant Peak is a 13417feet mountain summit in San Juan County, Colorado, United States.
Little Giant Peak is located 3.5miles east-southeast of the community of Silverton on land administered by the Bureau of Land Management.[4] It is 3miles west of the Continental Divide in the San Juan Mountains which are a subrange of the Rocky Mountains. Precipitation runoff from the mountain drains into tributaries of the Animas River. Topographic relief is significant as the summit rises over 1200abbr=offNaNabbr=off above Silver Lake in one-half mile (0.8 km) and 3050abbr=offNaNabbr=off above Cunningham Creek in one mile (1.6 km). The mountain's toponym has been officially adopted by the United States Board on Geographic Names,[3] and has been recorded in publications since at least 1901.[5] [6]
According to the Köppen climate classification system, Little Giant Peak is located in an alpine subarctic climate zone with long, cold, snowy winters, and cool to warm summers.[7] Due to its altitude, it receives precipitation all year, as snow in winter and as thunderstorms in summer, with a dry period in late spring.
