Jared Verse (born November 4, 2000) is an American professional football linebacker for the Los Angeles Rams of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the Albany Great Danes and Florida State Seminoles. Verse was the 2020 CAA Defensive Rookie of the Year with Albany and a two-time All-American with Florida State. Verse was selected by the Rams in the first round of the 2024 NFL draft. He was the first first-round pick made by the Rams since Jared Goff in 2016.
Verse was born on November 4, 2000, in Dayton, Ohio.[1] He grew up in Berwick, Pennsylvania, later attending Central Columbia High School and played tight end for their football team.[2] [3]
Verse redshirted his freshman season at Albany.[4] He made 22 tackles with 10 tackles for loss and four sacks over four games during his redshirt freshman season, which was shortened and played in early 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.[5] He was named second-team All-Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) and won the conference's Defensive Rookie of the Year award.[6] In 2021, Verse was named first-team All-CAA after finishing the season with 53 tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss, 9.5 sacks, and one forced fumble.[7]
In 2022, Verse announced he was transferring to Florida State University to play for the Seminoles.[8] He finished his first season with the Seminoles with 48 tackles, 17 tackles for loss, and 9 sacks.[9] Verse declared for the 2024 NFL draft following the 2023 season.[10]

Verse was selected by the Los Angeles Rams in the first round, 19th overall, of the 2024 NFL draft.[11] He recorded a sack in his NFL debut against the Detroit Lions in Week 1.[12] Verse was named the Defensive Rookie of the Month for September after recording 19 total tackles, 5 for loss, and 1 sack.[13]
