James Thomas McGee (23 September 1885 – 19 January 1956)[1] was an Irish farmer, cattle dealer and politician.[2]
The owner of a 750acres farm at Kellystown near Ardee, County Louth, he was chairman of the Irish Cattle Traders and Stockowners Association.[2] He was involved in local politics. He was a member of Louth County Council for forty years, of which he was chairman from 1925 to 1955.[3] He was also chairman of Ardee Town Commissioners.[2]
He was an independent member of Seanad Éireann from 1938 to 1956. He was first elected to the 3rd Seanad in 1938 by the Administrative Panel.[4] He was re-elected at the 1943, 1944, 1948, 1951 and 1954 Seanad elections. He died in office in 1956,[2] [5] and William Woods was elected to fill the vacancy.[4]
