Background and composition

After announcing her second studio album Infinite Icon, to be released through her company, 11:11 Media,^{[4] [5]} Hilton released the lead single "I'm Free", featuring Rina Sawayama, on June 21, 2024.^{[6] [7]}

The song contains samples of "Free" by Ultra Naté^[8] and "Music Sounds Better with You" by Stardust. Hilton explained the context behind sampling Ultra Naté's version, and the meaning of "I'm Free":^[9] The single has been described as a nu-disco, french house and techno-pop song.^{[10] [11] [12]}

The music video for the song, directed by Matthew Daniel Siskin, was released on June 21, 2024, through Hilton's YouTube channel.
