Hussain Mohamed Latheef (dv|ހުސައިން މުހައްމަދު ލަތީފް; born 10 December 1982), commonly known as Sembe (dv|ސެމްބެ),[2] is a Maldivian politician who is the 13th and incumbent vice president of the Maldives since 2023.[3] He was a member of the People's Majlis for Fares-Maathodaa from 2014 to 2023.[4] He was elected vice president as the running mate of Mohamed Muizzu in the 2023 presidential election.[5]
He started his government career in 2004 as the former secretary at Hulhumalé Hospital. He served at the Ministry of Gender, Family, and Human Rights and the Human Rights Commission of the Maldives.[6] He also served the private sector in many companies and worked as a lecturer in the Maldives Family Court. He was also the Senior Vice President of the Football Association of Maldives.
Hussain Mohamed Latheef got his Undergraduate Degree in Social Service and Community Development in Al-Azhar University. He received his Master of Business Administration from Anglia Ruskin University.
