Hortia superba is a mid-story rainforest tree in the Citrus, or Rue, family (Rutaceae). It is native to the Amazon Basin.[1]
The tree grows to about 82feet in height by about 10inches thick. It is unbranched or rarely branched; the branches being vertical or nearly vertical (reiterations), the trunk and each reiteration topped by a cluster of very large leaves up to 4feet long by up to 9inches in width. The inflorescence is a terminal thyrse up to 3feet in diameter. The fruit is a globular berry up to 2.5inches long and almost as wide containing several seeds.[2]
