Herdings Leighton Road is a tram stop on the South Yorkshire Supertram network, opened on 3 April 1995.[1] It is located adjacent to Norton Avenue, and is the only intermediate stop on the Herdings Park branch.
This tram stop was opened along with the track section between Gleadless Townend and Herdings Park in April 1995, a week after the Halfway extension opened.[2]
Herdings Leighton Road tram stop has two low-level side platforms, situated in a reserved tram-only section to the north of Norton Avenue (A6102). To the west of this stop, the track singles and stays singled until the terminus at Herdings Park. To the east, the tracks merge into the main road and mix with other road traffic.[3]
At the centre of each platform, passenger information displays stand and show estimated arrival times for trams.[4] There are also two short ramps at each end of the platforms, providing step-free access for passengers.[5]
The Purple route runs hourly Monday−Saturday and every 30 minutes (peak frequency) on Sundays.[6]
Bus routes 18 and 18a (Sheffield Interchange–Hillsborough via Meadowhall and Manor Top) operate on the nearby Norton Avenue (A6102).
