List of all Greek Orthodox parishes and monasteries in the Australian state of South Australia (SA) and the Northern Territory (NT).[1]
The majority of Greek Orthodox church communities in South Australia and the Northern Territory are under the spiritual jurisdiction of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia. Until 2024, all jurisdictions within Australia were under an Archdiocesan district with an auxiliary Bishop appointed to represent the Archbishop in the city with South Australia and the Northern Territory were under the Archdiocesan District of Adelaide with an assistant Bishop based in Adelaide. In 2024, the Ecumenical Patriarchate announced the establishment of six dioceses within Australia, including the diocese of Adelaide. Each diocese would be appointed with a Regional Bishop (Chorepiskopos)[2] . Since this announcement in 2024, Bishop Silouan has been the Regional Bishop of Adelaide which includes the whole of South Australia and the Northern Territory. Previously, Bishop Silouan (titled Bishop of Sinope) was the auxiliary Bishop responsible for the District of Adelaide, having been appointed Archdiocesan Vicar in October 2019, elected as a bishop by the Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate in November 2019 and consecrated as Bishop of Sinope by Archbishop Makarios on January 19, 2020, at the Cathedral of the Annunciation of Our Lady in Sydney.[3]
The central offices of the District are based at the Archdiocesan Cathedral in Bowden having been formerly based at the Parish of St. Panteleimon in Glenelg North.
