Graeme James Downie[1] is a Scottish Labour Party politician who has been the Member of Parliament for Dunfermline and Dollar since 2024.[2]
Downie attended Craigmount High School in Edinburgh before reading Politics at the University of Stirling, graduating in 2002. He was one of the first in his family to attend university.
Prior to his election to Parliament, he was elected as Councillor for West Fife and Coastal Villages and Health Spokesperson in the Labour-led Fife Council administration.[3] He initially stood down from his role as Health Spokesperson but continued as a councillor then announced his resignation on 4 September 2024.[4] [5]
Downie received a £5,200 donation from Baronet Gordon Dalyell during the 2024 General Election and in September 2023 took trip to Israel funded by Labour Friends of Israel.[6] [7]
In November 2024, Downie voted in favour of the Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill, which proposes to legalise assisted suicide.[8]
Downie lives in Torryburn in the West Fife and Coastal Villages ward of his constituency.
