Gastes (pronounced as /fr/; oc|Gastas) is a commune in the Landes department in Nouvelle-Aquitaine in southwestern France.[2] It is located in the Landes forest, between Mimizan and Biscarrosse.
The name of the commune, French: Gastes, comes from Latin French: vastas, which means an "empty/deserted land". It synonymous with French French: gâtine.[3]
