Gamal Mohamed Hassan (so|Gamaal Maxamed Xasan, ar|جمال محمد حسن; born June 1978). Gamal is a Somali politician who was the former Minister of Planning and International Cooperation of the Federal Government of Somalia and former Ambassador.
Jamal graduated from Carleton University in Ottawa with a degree in Political Science and a Master's degree in Political Science and Foreign Policy.[1]
Earlier in his career, Jamal worked for the Canadian government during his time in Canada and also held a position at Carleton University in Ottawa.[2]
On April 2, 2015, as the Ambassador of the Federal Government of Somalia to Kenya.[3] Jamal served at the Somali Embassy in Kenya and also worked as an advisor to the U.S. diplomatic mission in Nairobi before being appointed by Prime Minister Omar Sharmarke.[4]
Prior to his service at the Somali Embassy, Jamal worked as a political advisor to the United States Special Representative to Somalia on political and democratic affairs, as well as on human rights issues.
