Fontainemore (pronounced as /fr/; Valdôtain: Fontènemore; Issime wae|Pischu; Italian: Fontanamora from 1939 to 1946) is a town and comune in the Aosta Valley region of north-western Italy. It is one of I Borghi più belli d'Italia ("The most beautiful villages of Italy").[1]
The toponym "Fontainemore" may derive from an old fountain called in French as « Fontaine de Saint-Maur » or « Fontaine de la mort ».[2]
Fontainemore is located in the middle of the Lys Valley, near the chasm known as fr|Gouffre de Guillemore. It is the most eastern municipality of the Aosta Valley.
