Erla was born in Sauðárkrókur to Ingibjörg Konráðsdóttir and Þorsteinn Sigurðsson. She married Paul Eduard Danchell, the founder of the Danish electronic company Paul E. Danchell A / S, in 1955.[12] [13] Erla died on 25 September 2022 in a nursing home in Holbæk, Denmark.[14] She had 4 children: Poul Eduard, Eva Ingibjörg, Stefan Thorstein and David Konrad Danchell, the 3 boys living in Denmark, the daughter living in the Netherlands. She had 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren when she died.
