Abuchi Elijah Emedem (born April 7, 1997) popularly known as Eli Jae,[1] is a Nigerian-born singer, songwriter, and recording artist, known for his viral hit single “Vida Miya” with Ric Hassani.[2]
His musical style combines traditional African rhythms with contemporary sounds,[3] contributing to his growing recognition in the Nigerian music scene.[4] [5]
Early life
Eli Jae was born and raised in Port Harcourt, Nigeria, where he developed a passion for music at a young age. His exposure to various musical genres, including Afrobeats, pop, and gospel, shaped his artistic development. He began performing in local talent shows and later pursued his musical career professionally.[6]
Career
Eli Jae's music career began to gain traction with his unique sound and lyrical content that resonates with a diverse audience.[7] His breakout moment came when he released his EP titled “Blend” under Adasa Cookey’s owned label Squareball Entertainment.[8] [9]
In 2024, Eli Jae collaborated with Nigerian artist Ric Hassani on a track that gained considerable attention, further solidifying his position in the Afrobeat scene.[10] The collaboration helped expand his audience and opened opportunities for further collaborations with notable artists.[11]
According to GQ South Africa, Eli Jae sonic palette was shaped by afrobeat legend Fela Kuti.[12]
