Devin Grant is an American college football safety for the Syracuse Orange. He previously played for the Buffalo Bulls.
Grant was born in Elmont, New York and attended Holy Cross High School. In Grant's high school career, he played on both sides of the ball. On offense, he completed 98 of his 192 passing attempts for 1,542 yards and 17 touchdowns with ten interceptions, Grant would also rush for 1,235 yards and 13 touchdowns, and he also notched 14 receptions for 254 yards and five touchdowns. On defense, he totaled 102 tackles with 11 going for a loss, 20 pass deflections, 15 interceptions, three blocked field, three fumble recoveries, two forced fumbles, and two defensive touchdowns.[1] Grant was a four-star rated recruit and would decide to commit to play college football at the University of Buffalo over offers from Albany, Army, Fordham and James Madison.[2] [3] [4]
In Grant's first season in 2022, he tallied nine tackles.[5] In week one of the 2023 season, Grant recorded his first career interception in a loss versus Wisconsin.[6] In week five, Grant would notch ten tackles, as well as a blocking a potential game-tying field goal in overtime to help the Bulls beat Akron.[7] In week six, Grant would have a breakout performance, making four tackles, and intercepting three passes, where he returned two for touchdowns as he would help Buffalo beat Central Michigan.[8] Because of his performance, he was named the National Defensive Player of the Week.[9] He finished the season with tallying 79 total tackles (55 solo and 24 assisted), 1.5 tackles for loss for two yards, five interceptions for 167 yards and two touchdowns, eight pass breakups, one forced fumble and two fumble recoveries.[10]
On December 11, 2023, Grant announced that he would be entering the transfer portal.[11]
On December 18, 2023, Grant announced that he would be transferring to Syracuse.[12]
Grant is the nephew of NFL safety Dean Marlowe.[13]
