Carolann Coleen Leeming (born 27 November 1957) is a British and Jamaican descent multi-disciplinary artist, writer, singer and musician who is noted for her poetry, plays and musical work. She is best known for her choreopoetry. Leeming's literary work features in The Cambridge University Companion to British Black & Asian Literature, 1945-2010.[1]
Carol Leeming was born in Leicester to parents from Jamaica and Antigua, who immigrated to the United Kingdom as part of the Windrush generation of the 1950s.[2] Leeming grew up in Leicester, where she attended Alderman Newtons Grammar School (sometimes known as Alderman Newton's School), and also grew up partly in Kingston Jamaica. Later, in the 1980s, Leeming graduated at De Montfort University (then called Leicester Polytechnic) [3] and is now an alumna, being made DMU Alumna of the month. [3]
Leeming's career has been marked by a wide range of publications. These included creative writings (such as poems), plays and theatrical productions. Leeming was a BBC Proms Open Music trainee [4] for the Dream Prom 2022 at the Royal Albert Hall. Worki in 2023 was marked by a performance of Remnants for Poet & Orchestra by Yomi Sode which was read by Leeming, composed by James B Wilson and conducted by Alpesh Chauhan with the Trinity Laben Symphony Orchestra at Blackhealth Halls in London.

Leeming joined Curve Theatre as a Resident Assistant Director.
Leeming has a discography, some of her musical works being released under the alias KYO. Leeming has performed music as part of the groups [5] Quadelectronic and Qwire. Leeming's recordings include singles, extended plays, albums, compilations, and mixes.
In 2019, she received an MBE for her work as a poet and playwright and her contribution to Leicester arts and culture.[6] Leeming the Penfold Media Award for the Enchanter film poem. [7] In 2017, she was given the Ena Young Poetry Award.[8] Leeming was featured in songs by the British House Music Studio project group Staxx of Joy.
