Bungaban is a rural locality in the Western Downs Region, Queensland, Australia.[1] In the, Bungaban had a population of 60 people.

The Leichhardt Highway runs past the western extremity.

History

Cockatoo State School opened on 23 January 1984 and closed on 31 December 2000.[6] [7] It was located in the south of neighbouring Cockatoo, but now within Bungaban at 1473 Ponty Pool Road (-25.7901°N 150.2604°W).[8]

Economy

The Bungaban Wind Energy project is a proposal for $3.9 billion wind farm capable of generating 1.4GW of electricity to be used for both local consumption and to power mineral processing in the Gladstone area.[10]
