Bruce Elias Sanane, popularly known by his stage name Bruce Africa, is a singer and songwriter from Tanzania. His music journey began in childhood, and he has since emerged as a notable figure in the Tanzanian music industry, blending Afro-pop, R&B, and Bongo Flava.[1]
Bruce Africa was born in Tanzania, where his passion for music began at the young age of 7. He started his musical journey by singing in his local church choir, where he participated in praise and worship performances. This early exposure to music nurtured his talent and gave him a foundation in vocal performance.
At the age of 15, Bruce was introduced to the guitar, an instrument that would become his lifelong companion. His father played a pivotal role in his musical development, teaching him to play and develop an emotional connection with the instrument. After completing his secondary education, Bruce Africa decided to pursue his passion for music professionally. His breakthrough moment came in 2019-2020 when he participated in Bongo Star Search (BSS), one of Tanzania's most prestigious talent showcases. Competing in Season 11 Bruce reached the emi-finals.[3]
Following his success in Bongo Star Search, Bruce joined Christian Bella's group, known as CBO. Under CBO, he released several tracks that helped establish his presence in the local music scene.[4]
In 2022, Bruce Africa decided to embark on an independent career, marking a new chapter in his musical journey. He debuted as a solo artist with the release of his first song, titled "In Love."
He followed this release with "Falling Down," further solidifying his position as an emerging artist to watch. However, it was his song "YOU"[5] that truly introduced Bruce Africa into the mainstream. The song received widespread recognition and introduced him to a broader audience, establishing him as a prominent name in the Tanzanian music industry.[6]
