Bracken Ridge State High School Explained

Bracken Ridge State High School (BRSHS) is a public co-educational secondary school located in the Brisbane suburb of Bracken Ridge, Queensland, Australia.^[1] It is administered by the Queensland Department of Education, with an enrolment of 640 students and a teaching staff of 61, as of 2023.^[2] The school serves students from Year 7 to Year 12.

History

The school opened on 23 January 1967, under the name Nashville State High School, which changed to its current name on 25 September 2000.^{[3] [4]} It was the first school to power a classroom around the clock using just renewable energy in 2018.^[5]

Demographics

In 2023, the school had a student enrollment of 640 with 61 teachers (58 full-time equivalent) and 31 non-teaching staff (22.6 full-time equivalent). Female enrollments consisted of 311 students and Male enrollments consisted of 329 students; Indigenous enrollments accounted for a total of 10% and 9% of students had a language background other than English.
