Borran-e Olya (fa|بران عليا) is a city in, and the capital of, Borran District of Aslan Duz County, Ardabil province, Iran.[2] As a village, it was the capital of Qeshlaq-e Gharbi Rural District[3] until its capital was transferred to the village of Dalik Yarqan.[2]

Demographics

Population

At the time of the 2006 National Census, Borran-e Olya's population was 1,180 in 236 households, when it was a village in Qeshlaq-e Gharbi Rural District of the former Aslan Duz District of Parsabad County.[4] The following census in 2011 counted 1,102 people in 275 households.[5] The 2016 census measured the population of the village as 1,508 people in 451 households. It was the most populous village in its rural district.[6]

In 2017, the district was separated from the county in the establishment of Aslan Duz County, and the rural district was transferred to the new Borran District.[2] Borran-e Olya was elevated to the status of a city in 2023.[7]
