The sixth season of Bigg Boss, the Malayalam-language adaptation of the Indian reality television series produced by endemol shine india and Banijay, premiered on March 10, 2024, on Asianet. Viewers can also catch a 24/7 live stream on the Disney+ Hotstar OTT platform (Deferred LIVE). Malayalam Superstar Mohanlal returned as the show's host for the 6th consecutive year.[1] [2] [3]
On launch day, a diverse group of 19 contestants entered the Bigg Boss house. This year's mix includes celebrities, social media influencers, and three chosen commoners selected from the public.[4] Further on Day 29, six new housemates joined the Bigg Boss house as wildcards. This influx of contestants made it the season with the highest number of participants (25) ever to be featured in any adaptation of Bigg Boss.[5]
Bigg Boss Malayalam Season 6 ended with Jinto Bodycraft clinching the winner's title during the grand finale held on June 16, 2024. Arjun Syam Gopan emerged as the first runner-up.
Production
Asianet unveiled the new Bigg Boss Malayalam season 6 logo and commoner audition promo on January 5, 2024. The first promo, featuring Mohanlal hinting at an unpredictable season, premiered on February 4.[6] The second promo, which premiered on February 11, features Mohanlal revealing that there will be four bedrooms in this season.[7] On February 25, Asianet announced the show's launch date as March 10.[8] Subsequently, on March 3, a promo revealed the identities of the two participating commoners.[9]
In the countdown promo, show host Mohanlal reveals the theme of this season's Bigg Boss, which is ഒന്ന് മാറ്റി പിടിച്ചാലോ! (Let's change things up!).[10]
Eye logo
The eye logo this season has a metallic blue hue with a yellowish golden strike, which is similar to the colors used in the logo for the first season of the show. The specific shade of blue used in the logo is a dark, navy blue with a hint of green. The golden strike, with its lighter yellow colour, has the look of the number '6', akin to a fiery thunder.[11]
House theme
The house is situated within the EVP Film City in Chennai, designed by Kanchankumar and Rupali Bandawane. Each of the four bedrooms have unique themes. Bigg Boss named the rooms Nest, Tunnel, Den, and Power (later people).[12]
