Becontree is an electoral ward in the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham. It returns councillors to Barking and Dagenham London Borough Council. The ward was created on 1 April 1994 from territory that had previously formed part of the Goodmayes ward in the London Borough of Redbridge. The ward was first used in the 1994 elections.

The ward was created on 1 April 1994 and consisted of territory that had been part of the Goodmayes ward in the London Borough of Redbridge.[7] The purpose of the transfer was to unite the whole of the Becontree estate in Barking and Dagenham. From 1 April 1994 until after the first election the new ward was represented by Triptons ward councillors.[7]
