On 4 July, Swansea City announced their first pre-season friendly, against 1. FC Köln as part of a week-long training camp in Austria.[35] Eleven days later, a second fixture in Austria was confirmed, against Vardar.[36]

Swansea City entered the FA Cup at the third round stage, and were drawn away to Southampton.[38]
