The 26th edition of the Tour of Flanders cycling classic race was held on Sunday, 6 April 1942.[1] Belgian Briek Schotte won the Monument for a first time. Of the 67 starting cyclists, 22 reached the finish.[2]
The race started in Ghent and finished there, in the Kuipke velodrome, totaling 226 km (140 miles).[3]

As he usually preferred, Briek Schotte escaped from a group earlier. He was able to stay in front and arrived solo in the velodrome. Schotte completed the race with an average of 35,13 km/h.[4]
