14th Japan Record Awards explained

The 14th Annual Japan Record Awards took place at the Imperial Garden Theater in Chiyoda, Tokyo, on December 31, 1972, starting at 7:00 PM JST. The primary ceremonies were televised in Japan on TBS.

• Rumiko Koyanagi for "Seto No Hanayome"
  • Last year's best new artist, the vocalist that has the most potential to receive the Japan Record Award. However, given to Chiaki sings the wrong lyric during the performance.
• Hiroshi Itsuki for "Yogisha No Onna"
  • Awarded again after last year, 2nd vocalist award.
• Kenji Sawada for "Yurusarenai Ai"

New Artist Award

• Aoi Sankujyougi for "Taiyou Ga Kureta Kisetsu"
